This was done in Illustrator. Totally flat. I'd like to say that is a stylistic choice, but mostly it is because I haven't mastered gradients yet. I also haven't really mastered the pen tool yet, either, so some of the curves are wonky. But it was fun. I think I am going to make a painting of this. I have this idea of creating a painting that has a layered, textured background and then a completely flat object. Kind of like someone just smacked a sticker on top of another painting. Stay tuned to see if I follow through on that.

Yikes. I meant your idea. I am typing in the dark (in a cabin at the Grand Canyon!) as Tina sleeps. Did not mean to imply we thought of the idea together...although, I imagine a real pirate would just claim the idea, right?
